Azerbaijan has officially approved amendments to the Tax Code and several laws, including those on tobacco products, advertising, and the restriction of tobacco use, effectively regulating and banning certain electronic cigarette products.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to this effect, marking a significant shift in the country's public health policy.
According to the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with preparing and submitting proposals to the President within two months to align existing normative legal acts with Law No. 338-VIIQD, dated December 30, 2025. The Cabinet of Ministers must also resolve all other administrative matters arising from these legislative changes to ensure full implementation across Azerbaijan.
The move is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to improve public health and reduce the consumption of harmful substances among its citizens. By tightening regulations on electronic cigarettes and tobacco advertising, the government aims to align national legislation with international health standards. These reforms follow a series of initiatives in Azerbaijan designed to promote a healthier lifestyle and protect the younger generation from nicotine addiction.
