The use of children's images in advertisements in Azerbaijan will now require the explicit consent of their parents or legal guardians. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this requirement is reflected in the latest amendments to the Law on Advertising, which have been officially approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
Under the new legal framework, any promotional material featuring the likeness of a minor can only be utilized if the parents or those legally substituting them provide formal permission. This measure is designed to strengthen the protection of children's rights and privacy within the domestic media and marketing landscape, ensuring that their participation in commercial activities is strictly regulated and monitored by their legal representatives.
The Law on Advertising in Azerbaijan serves as the primary legal instrument regulating the production, placement, and dissemination of advertisements across various platforms. These recent updates align the country's legislative framework with international standards regarding the protection of minors. By formalizing the consent process, the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant regulatory bodies aim to prevent the unauthorized exploitation of children's images and to ensure that all advertising content adheres to ethical and legal norms established in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
