The United Kingdom will deploy its "Rapid Sentry" air defense system to Kuwait in response to a recent drone attack launched by Iran. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the move was reported by "The Times of Israel", citing the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The details of the deployment were finalized during a telephone conversation between Keir Starmer and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, earlier today. The decision to dispatch the advanced defense hardware follows an overnight strike by an Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) targeting a critical oil facility in Kuwait. "The Prime Minister condemned the overnight attack on the Kuwaiti oil refinery. He confirmed that Britain stands by Kuwait and all allies in the Persian Gulf," the official statement noted.
The "Rapid Sentry" system is a highly mobile, short-range air defense solution designed to intercept low-altitude threats, including drones and cruise missiles. This deployment underscores the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf energy infrastructure to global markets and highlights the ongoing security cooperation between London and its regional partners. The move comes amid heightened regional tensions and reflects a broader commitment by Western powers to safeguard maritime and energy security in the Middle East.
