A wildfire has broken out in an agricultural area located in the Bayir district of Turkey's Mugla province.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, strong winds caused the flames to spread rapidly, engulfing nearby forest terrain and raising significant concerns in the region.
Authorities reported that emergency response teams were deployed immediately upon receiving notification of the incident. Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM), extensive operations are underway, involving 5 aircraft, 11 helicopters, 40 fire trucks, and a personnel force of 261, supported by volunteer groups.
Intervention efforts continue both from the air and on the ground to bring the blaze under control. Due to heavy smoke and safety risks, the Fethiye-Antalya highway has been temporarily closed to traffic. Drivers are advised to utilize alternative routes until the situation is stabilized.
Mugla, a province in southwestern Turkey, is a region frequently susceptible to forest fires during the summer months due to its hot, dry climate and dense pine forests. The General Directorate of Forestry maintains high alert levels in these areas to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters.
