US President Donald Trump has promised that gasoline prices in the United States will fall after the conflict with Iran ends.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Trump made the remarks in a post on the Truth Social network.
He said oil and other products would become significantly cheaper after the United States wins the war.
According to Trump, a gallon of gasoline in the United States could cost $3, and eventually fall below $2.
The United States and Israel began strikes on targets in Iran on February 28. Iran responded with reciprocal strikes.
In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum on halting the fighting, but the sides later resumed reciprocal strikes. The conflict remains unresolved.
Amid the tensions, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a halt. The strait is considered one of the main routes for delivering oil, petroleum products and liquefied natural gas to global markets. The disruption has driven up fuel prices in many countries.
According to the American Automobile Association, the average gasoline price in the United States currently stands at about $4.10 per gallon. One gallon is approximately 3.8 liters.
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a crucial passage for global energy supplies. Changes in traffic through the strait can therefore have a direct impact on international oil markets and consumer fuel prices.
