Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump are expected to discuss the Russia-Ukraine peace agenda on the sidelines of the upcoming NATO summit.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Turkish newspaper Milliyet, the two leaders plan to meet to explore potential pathways for resuming peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
The upcoming North Atlantic Alliance summit is scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7–8. The event will bring together leaders, as well as foreign and defense ministers, from all 32 NATO member states. Representatives from partner nations in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, are also expected to attend.
Fahrettin Altun, head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration, has indicated that the summit's primary agenda will focus on security threats within the Euro-Atlantic region, the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, and strategic issues concerning NATO's southern flank. The summit serves as a critical platform for coordinating allied responses to global security challenges and reinforcing collective defense commitments.
