US President Donald Trump has reportedly requested that Apple update its map application to rename Lake Ontario as "American Lake."

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that international media outlets have covered the development.

US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced during a television appearance that the request for the name change has been communicated to all major mapping service providers. According to Burgum, President Donald Trump personally contacted Apple to convey this directive. The Secretary indicated that the name change could be implemented on Apple's platform in the near future.

Previously, Google updated its "Google Maps" application to display the body of water as "American Lake" for users within the United States, while maintaining the name "Lake Ontario" for users in Canada. On August 27, President Donald Trump signed an executive order officially renaming the lake, which sits on the border between the United States and Canada, to "American Lake." This decision comes amid heightened trade tensions between the two North American neighbors, reflecting broader geopolitical shifts in regional relations.
