The Swiss government has announced its readiness to host negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Melanie Gugelmann, a spokesperson for the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, conveyed this proposal during a statement to the TASS news agency.

According to the spokesperson, Switzerland is "always ready to offer its good offices" and supports any diplomatic initiative aimed at establishing peace. Gugelmann noted that the Swiss Foreign Ministry remains in constant contact with all interested parties to facilitate dialogue and promote regional stability.

This development follows reports from Axios indicating that the administration of US President Donald Trump and Tehran are nearing a memorandum of understanding to de-escalate the current conflict. The potential agreement is expected to address critical issues, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, limitations on Iran's nuclear program, and the easing of US-imposed sanctions. Sources suggest that the upcoming high-level talks could take place in either Islamabad or Geneva.

Switzerland has a long-standing history of acting as a neutral intermediary in international diplomacy. Since 1980, Bern has represented the diplomatic interests of the United States in Tehran under a protecting power mandate, as the two nations do not maintain direct bilateral relations. This role of "good offices" has historically made Switzerland a primary venue for sensitive international summits and conflict resolution efforts in the Middle East.
