President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on additional measures to ensure the effective operation and development of the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ).
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the decree stipulates the transfer of 1,453.09 hectares of state-owned land in the Alat settlement of Baku's Garadagh district to the authorized body of the Alat Free Economic Zone. The land, identified in the land management plan prepared by the Ministry of Economy, is granted for permanent, gratuitous, and one-time use. The Ministry of Economy and the AFEZ authority have been instructed to resolve all administrative and legal matters arising from the presidential order.
The Alat Free Economic Zone is a strategic project designed to transform Azerbaijan into a leading regional logistics and industrial hub. Established to diversify the national economy and attract foreign investment, the zone offers a range of incentives, including tax and customs exemptions for investors. Its proximity to the Baku International Sea Trade Port makes it a critical link in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, facilitating trade between Asia and Europe.
