The United States believes the ceasefire with Iran remains in effect as the military launches "Project Liberty" to ensure safe maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the operation does not intend to violate Iranian territorial waters or airspace.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Hegseth emphasized that there is no necessity for American forces to enter Iranian territory to achieve the mission's objectives. "There will be no need for US forces to enter Iranian waters or airspace. There is no such requirement," he noted, adding that hundreds of vessels from various countries are currently preparing to utilize the US military's offer for secure transit through the strategic waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital oil transit chokepoints, linking Middle East crude producers to key global markets. "Project Liberty" represents a strategic effort by Washington to stabilize international shipping routes amid regional tensions. This development follows a period of heightened diplomatic and military posturing, where the maintenance of a ceasefire is seen as crucial for global energy security and regional stability.
