"Cənubi Koreya Şimali Koreya ilə münasibətlərin normallaşdırılması səylərini davam etdirəcək"

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has emphasized the critical importance of finding avenues for cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), despite recent hostile rhetoric from Pyongyang.

According to foreign media reports cited by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the president reaffirmed his administration's commitment to diplomatic engagement. "Efforts to normalize relations with North Korea will continue. I believe that lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula can be established through continuous communication, dialogue, and cooperation efforts, as well as the gradual strengthening of trust and mutual understanding," he noted.

President Lee Jae-myung expressed his conviction that both nations must strive for peace by refraining from actions that could lead to confrontation or armed conflict. This diplomatic stance comes at a time of heightened regional sensitivity, as Seoul seeks to balance national security with the long-term goal of peaceful reunification and economic integration.

The Korean Peninsula has remained in a technical state of war since the 1950-1953 Korean War ended in an armistice rather than a formal peace treaty. In recent years, South Korea has frequently sought to act as a mediator in international efforts to denuclearize the peninsula, often coordinating closely with global powers, including the United States. The current administration's focus on dialogue reflects a strategic priority to mitigate military risks and foster a stable environment for regional development.
