Azerbaijan is currently experiencing a period of unstable weather conditions characterized by significant precipitation and strong winds, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service as of 10:00 AM on February 10.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that rain is falling across most of the country, while several mountainous regions are experiencing heavy snowfall.

According to official data on current weather conditions, the snow depth has reached 37 cm in Shahbuz, 25 cm in Qax (Saribash), 6 cm in Griz, 4 cm in Shahdag, and 3 cm in Khaltan. Additionally, snow cover of 2 cm was recorded in Sheki (Kishchay), Khizi, and Gusar, while 1 cm was observed in Goygol, Dashkasan, Kalbajar, and Guba.

Precipitation levels reached 6 mm in Ordubad, 4 mm in Nakhchivan and Sadarak, and 3 mm in Sharur, Shabran, Astara, and Yardimli. Other regions, including Gadabay, Lachin, Qubadli, Ganja, Tovuz, Balakan, Zaqatala, Khachmaz, Mingachevir, Sabirabad, as well as Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, recorded 1 mm of rainfall.

A north-westerly wind is currently prevailing across Azerbaijan. The maximum wind speed has reached 25 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, 20 m/s in Shahdag and Neftchala, 18 m/s in Dashkasan and Naftalan, and 15 m/s in Sheki.

Foggy conditions have also been reported in Shamakhi, Guba, Gusar, Griz, Khaltan, Tartar, Yevlax, Goychay, Zardab, Imishli, Sabirabad, Neftchala, Bilasuvar, Yardimli, Lankaran, Astara, and Lerik. In these areas, visibility has been restricted to 500 meters, posing potential challenges for transportation and logistics.

Azerbaijan's diverse topography often leads to sharp climatic variations between the lowlands and the Greater and Lesser Caucasus mountain ranges. The National Hydrometeorological Service, an agency under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, regularly monitors these patterns to provide early warnings for public safety and to assist the agricultural and transport sectors in mitigating weather-related risks.
