Six individuals have been held administratively liable in Azerbaijan for committing acts that insult public morality and demonstrate open disrespect for society through digital platforms. According to information provided by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the measures were taken as part of a systematic effort to combat the dissemination of content that contradicts national and moral values.
The Prosecutor General's Office stated that despite widespread promotion of ethical behavior standards by public figures and state structures, certain groups continue to pollute the digital information space with immoral content. Specifically, the authorities identified cases involving the distortion of family values and the use of expressions that fall outside the norms of civilized communication. Under Article 510.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which prohibits the public display of content that insults morality or features indecent gestures and expressions, legal proceedings were initiated. As a result, relevant courts sentenced four of the individuals to administrative detention, while two others were issued administrative fines.
The Prosecutor General's Office reminded citizens that the virtual space is not an unregulated zone and that every user bears legal responsibility for the content they share. This crackdown reflects Azerbaijan's broader commitment to protecting the country's social fabric and traditional family institutions from digital threats. In recent years, Azerbaijan has strengthened its legal framework to ensure that internet resources are used in accordance with the law, emphasizing that any illegal actions targeting national morality will continue to face strict legal repercussions.
