The United Kingdom and France are holding preliminary discussions regarding the potential deployment of nuclear forces in Sweden.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was released by The Telegraph, citing statements made by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The Prime Minister confirmed that initial talks on this matter are currently underway with both French and British counterparts.

According to Kristersson, since joining NATO, Sweden has begun to participate more actively in all discussions conducted within the alliance, including issues related to nuclear deterrence. He emphasized that as long as "dangerous countries" possess nuclear weapons, democratic nations must be able to discuss their own access to such capabilities to ensure collective security.

Sweden officially became the 32nd member of NATO in March 2024, ending decades of post-World War II neutrality and centuries of non-alignment. This strategic shift was prompted by the changing security landscape in Northern Europe. The integration into the alliance's nuclear planning group and discussions regarding strategic assets mark a significant evolution in Stockholm's defense policy, aligning it more closely with the security doctrines of the United States, the UK, and France.
