Rusiya Rumıniyanın diplomatını “arzuolunmaz şəxs” elan etdi

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the Romanian Embassy in Moscow, Liliana Burda, to address ongoing diplomatic tensions. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this summons follows Romania's recent decision to declare a Russian diplomat persona non grata.

In an official statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry characterized the Romanian government's decision as unfounded. Consequently, Moscow has issued a diplomatic note declaring a member of the Romanian Embassy staff in Russia as persona non grata, marking a reciprocal move in the diplomatic dispute.

The tensions stem from recent incidents where Romania reported that three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) had entered its airspace, leading Bucharest to expel the Russian diplomat. The Romanian government has maintained that these security concerns are serious and has simultaneously reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing regional conflict. Such diplomatic expulsions are common tools of statecraft used to signal political dissatisfaction between nations, often leading to tit-for-tat measures that further strain bilateral relations.
