In an official statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry characterized the Romanian government's decision as unfounded. Consequently, Moscow has issued a diplomatic note declaring a member of the Romanian Embassy staff in Russia as persona non grata, marking a reciprocal move in the diplomatic dispute.
The tensions stem from recent incidents where Romania reported that three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) had entered its airspace, leading Bucharest to expel the Russian diplomat.
