Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has announced the cancellation of flights scheduled for June 24 between Baku and Nakhchivan due to severe weather conditions, specifically lightning, observed at the Nakhchivan International Airport.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the national carrier. The airline stated that passengers will be provided with detailed information regarding potential rebooking options, and flight operations are expected to resume in normal mode once weather conditions stabilize.

"All decisions at AZAL are made with the primary goal of ensuring the safety of passengers and crew, and are carried out in strict accordance with international aviation safety standards," the official statement noted.

Nakhchivan International Airport serves as a critical transportation hub for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, an exclave of Azerbaijan separated from the mainland by Armenian territory. Due to its unique geographical position, air travel remains the primary and most efficient link between the capital, Baku, and the region, making the airport's operational status vital for the connectivity of the exclave.
