A delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, conducted a working visit to Manama, Bahrain, from January 24–26 at the invitation of Bahrain's Attorney General, Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain. This was reported to Operative Information Center-OMM by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

During a meeting held at the Bahrain Public Prosecution Office, Kamran Aliyev emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain is a friendly country and a reliable partner for Azerbaijan. He highlighted Bahrain's consistent support for Azerbaijan's political initiatives and territorial integrity across various international platforms over many years. It was noted that bilateral relations have further strengthened in recent years due to the political will of the heads of state of both nations.

Attorney General Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain expressed satisfaction with the development of inter-agency cooperation and shared positive impressions from his previous visits to Azerbaijan. The discussions touched upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the prosecution authorities of the two countries in October 2024. The parties deliberated on combating various types of crime, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, and expanding institutional cooperation within bilateral and international frameworks. Opinions were also exchanged on organizing mutual training visits and experience sharing.

The Azerbaijani delegation was briefed on the activities of the Bahrain Public Prosecution, specifically regarding the protection of family and children's rights, the application of alternative punishments, prosecutorial supervision over the execution of sentences, and the social rehabilitation of prisoners. Additionally, the delegation met with Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Court of Cassation and Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council, and Nawaf bin Mohamed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, to discuss expanding the legal framework for cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Bahrain were established in 1996. As members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement, both nations maintain a steady dialogue focused on economic, political, and legal collaboration. This visit underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to deepening ties with Gulf nations and enhancing international legal cooperation to combat transnational crime.
