Vehicles belonging to the prosecution authorities of Azerbaijan have been officially classified as operational vehicles following new legislative amendments. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed the relevant amendment to the Law "On Road Traffic" to this effect.
According to the new regulations, vehicles owned by the prosecution bodies that are equipped with forensic tools and intended for performing urgent procedural actions at crime scenes will now hold operational status. This designation also applies to vehicles used for transporting duty personnel to incident sites and conducting immediate operational-search activities. Under the law, these vehicles will be permitted to use special sirens and flashing lights, granting them priority movement in traffic during the performance of official duties.
The inclusion of the prosecution service in the category of operational agencies aims to enhance the efficiency of criminal investigations and ensure the rapid deployment of forensic teams to crime scenes across Azerbaijan. Previously, this status was primarily reserved for the emergency services, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Security Service. This move aligns the prosecution's logistical capabilities with modern legal requirements for swift judicial intervention and evidence collection.
