President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has always placed special importance on preserving the fraternal relations between the peoples of Iran and Iraq, as well as between the two nations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state noted that the ties between Iran and Iraq are not limited to political cooperation but are deeply rooted in shared historical, religious, and spiritual values.
Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the existing relations between Tehran and Baghdad are strategic in nature. According to the President, the recommendations of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei serve as a vital foundation for further strengthening cooperation and developing relations between the two neighboring countries.
The President stated that the Iranian leadership considers relations with Iraq to be one of the key factors in ensuring stability and security in the region. Pezeshkian stressed that the development of fraternal relations between Iran and Iraq serves the national interests of both states, and there are plans to further expand this cooperation in the future.
Iran and Iraq share a long, porous border and have historically maintained complex, multifaceted relations. Today, the two nations maintain extensive trade ties, and millions of pilgrims travel between the countries annually for religious observances, underscoring the depth of their bilateral engagement.
