President Ilham Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, on May 4.
During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy. The leaders discussed the expansion of cooperation in various sectors, including energy, economy, and trade, while emphasizing the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in strengthening diplomatic ties between Baku and Rome.
Italy remains one of Azerbaijan's primary trading partners in Europe, particularly in the energy sector. The two nations are linked by the Southern Gas Corridor, which plays a critical role in ensuring Europe's energy security. This meeting serves as a continuation of the strategic dialogue established under the "Joint Declaration on Strengthening Multidimensional Strategic Partnership" signed between the two countries.
