President Ilham Aliyev visited the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park on January 27 to inaugurate several new production facilities and lay the foundation for a new enterprise, highlighting Azerbaijan's ongoing commitment to industrial diversification.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state first laid the foundation for the "Nun" LLC polypropylene and laminated bag production plant. The founder of the company, Kamran Rzayev, informed President Ilham Aliyev that the facility will occupy one hectare and utilize advanced German technology. With an annual production capacity of over 3,120 tons, the 11.2 million manat project is expected to create 140 permanent jobs. The enterprise has been supported by a 3 million manat concessional loan from the Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy and will benefit from VAT and customs duty exemptions on imported equipment.

During the visit, President Ilham Aliyev also attended the opening of the "Baku Cardboard and Box Factory" LLC. The head of the facility, Kamran Salmanli, noted that the plant, which received resident status in 2023, represents an investment of 20 million manats. Utilizing Turkish and Chinese technologies, the factory will produce 55 million square meters of packaging annually, catering to both domestic and export markets. Furthermore, the President inaugurated the "Azermirror" LLC mirror sheet production plant. Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov briefed the head of state on the broader performance of Azerbaijan's industrial zones, noting that 104 enterprises are currently operational across the country, with total investments exceeding 7 billion manats.

The development of industrial parks is a central pillar of Azerbaijan's economic strategy to accelerate the growth of the non-oil sector. Currently, eight industrial parks are operational in Azerbaijan, including those in Sumgait, Aghdam, and the "Araz Valley Economic Zone" in the Jabrayil district. These zones provide entrepreneurs with significant incentives, including 10-year exemptions from property, land, and profit taxes, as well as ready-to-use infrastructure. To date, products worth 19.4 billion manats have been produced in these zones, with 6.1 billion manats worth of goods exported to 70 countries worldwide.
