President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the "Regulations on the Electronic Competition Information System" and amending the previous decree dated July 9, 2024, regarding the creation of the system.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the new decree aims to streamline digital oversight and transparency within the country's economic framework. Under the decree, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy is tasked with taking necessary measures for the operation, organization, and development of the Electronic Competition Information System (ERIS).
Furthermore, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, in coordination with the State Service, must ensure the inclusion of ERIS into the "Unified Register of State Information Resources, Systems, and Electronic Services" and the "State Register of Personal Data Information Resources and Systems." The Cabinet of Ministers and the Special Communication and Information Security State Service have also been directed to implement measures arising from the 2018 presidential decree on the formation and integration of state information resources.
This initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to enhance the "Electronic Government" portal and promote digital transformation across all sectors of the economy. By centralizing competition-related data, the government aims to ensure a more transparent business environment, prevent monopolistic tendencies, and facilitate easier access to market information for both state entities and private stakeholders in Azerbaijan.
