President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of the country's national holiday.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state expressed his sincere congratulations to the Sultan and the people of Brunei on behalf of himself and the people of Azerbaijan.
"The current level of Azerbaijan-Brunei relations, built on friendship and mutual respect, is gratifying. I believe that we will continue our joint efforts to strengthen interstate ties and further expand our cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats in accordance with the interests of our friendly peoples," the letter stated. President Ilham Aliyev also extended his heartfelt congratulations on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, wishing the Sultan robust health and success, and the people of Brunei Darussalam lasting peace and prosperity.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Brunei Darussalam were established in 1995. Both nations cooperate closely within international frameworks, particularly the United Nations (UN) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The two countries share common values and interests in promoting Islamic solidarity and economic cooperation, with ongoing efforts to explore new opportunities in the energy and trade sectors to further enhance bilateral ties.
