Prezident İlham Əliyev: Azərbaycanda etnik və dini müxtəliflik milli sərvət kimi qorunur

President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized that ethnic and religious diversity is protected as a national asset in Azerbaijan, highlighting the country's commitment to multiculturalism and interfaith dialogue. These remarks were included in a congratulatory letter sent by the Azerbaijani leader to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of the Anniversary of his Coronation.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the President expressed satisfaction with the developing relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See, noting that these ties are built on mutual respect and understanding. "We are proud that Azerbaijan is a place where people of different religions and beliefs live in harmony and mutual understanding," President Ilham Aliyev stated in the letter. He further noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan provides equal conditions for all confessions, serving as a global model for interreligious harmony and cultural diversity.

Azerbaijan has long positioned itself as a global center for multiculturalism, frequently hosting international events such as the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue and the Baku Process. The state policy of Azerbaijan focuses on preserving the traditions of tolerance and the cultural heritage of various ethnic groups living in the country. Relations with the Vatican have seen significant growth over the years, characterized by high-level visits and collaborative projects in the fields of culture and heritage preservation, including the restoration of historical sites by Azerbaijani foundations.
