SHAMAXI, March 23, AZERTAC – President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of the "Shirvan Agro" livestock complex in the Shamaxı district on March 23.

AZERTAC reports that Tahir Mammadov, Head of the Shamaxı District Executive Authority, briefed the head of state on the facility. Spanning nearly 100 hectares, the complex aims to provide the population with high-quality dairy and meat products, boost exports, and contribute to regional development by increasing employment in Shamaxı and surrounding districts.

The facility has the capacity to house 9,000 head of cattle, including 3,200 dairy cows, 3,000 beef cattle, and 2,800 calves. Currently, it breeds Holstein-Friesian, Limousin, and Aberdeen Angus varieties. Equipped with the latest technologies and managed via artificial intelligence, the complex is one of the largest livestock enterprises in the Caucasus and the CIS. Notably, it is the first livestock complex in Azerbaijan to utilize alternative and green energy sources.

The complex features the largest "Carousel" and "Parallel" milking systems in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, with online milk quality analyzers at every station. It also includes a Training and Education Center to teach advanced global technologies to local specialists. An innovative herd management system allows for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, while electronic collars track animal health and identification.

Addressing the staff, President Ilham Aliyev said: "I congratulate you. We are creating hundreds of jobs and excellent conditions. This enterprise is of great importance for the development of agriculture in Shamaxı and the country as a whole. We must ensure that we provide ourselves 100 percent with meat and dairy products. The launch of such farms will serve this purpose, and in the future, we may even export these products."

The President also highlighted the broader development of Shamaxı as a tourism and infrastructure hub, mentioning the ongoing construction of the Shamaxı-Ismayilli-Gabala highway and the country's largest bridge, expected to be commissioned next year. More than 200 residents from Shamaxı and neighboring regions have already been employed at the new complex.

The establishment of such modern agricultural complexes aligns with Azerbaijan's strategic goal of ensuring food security and reducing dependence on imports. By integrating AI and green energy, Azerbaijan continues to modernize its non-oil sector, fostering sustainable economic growth in its regions and enhancing the country's export potential in the global agricultural market.
