US President Donald Trump has reacted strongly to a recent US Supreme Court ruling that deemed certain import restrictions illegal, signaling a potential escalation in trade tensions.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of the White House warned nations attempting to gain trade advantages from this judicial decision that they would face new and more severe economic sanctions.

The legal dispute follows a February 20 ruling by the US Supreme Court, which confirmed that the emergency economic powers act relied upon by Donald Trump to implement specific import duties did not authorize such measures. The President described the court's decision as "disgraceful" and asserted that his administration has a contingency plan in place.

"Any country that wants to 'play' with this ridiculous Supreme Court decision will face much heavier consequences. Especially for states that have economically exploited the US for many years, tariffs will be many times higher than previous agreements. Consumers should be cautious," the President stated.

The Donald Trump administration continues to pursue a protectionist policy against various foreign products with the stated goal of protecting domestic production and strengthening the national economy. This approach has been a cornerstone of the administration's "America First" trade agenda, which seeks to renegotiate long-standing trade deals and reduce trade deficits with major global partners.

Historically, the use of executive orders and emergency powers to impose tariffs has been a subject of intense legal and political debate in the United States. While the executive branch maintains significant authority over foreign trade under various statutes, the Supreme Court's intervention highlights the ongoing constitutional checks on presidential economic powers.
