President Ilham Aliyev has called for comprehensive updates to school curricula in Azerbaijan to better prepare the next generation for the evolving digital economy. Speaking at a meeting dedicated to the "New Digital Architecture of Azerbaijan" unified action plan, the head of state emphasized that personnel training remains a top priority for the government's strategic development goals.
"Regarding personnel training, this is one of the main tasks. Recently, certain work has been done in this direction," Operative Information Center-OMM quoted the President as saying. President Ilham Aliyev noted that the education system must prioritize digital skills, both within universities operating in Azerbaijan and through state-sponsored programs for students studying abroad. "Considering that this will be a long-term process that will only continue to expand, there will be a significant need for specialists in this field in the future. Naturally, certain changes must be made to the curriculum in secondary schools to instill foundational knowledge in students," the President added.
The "New Digital Architecture of Azerbaijan" initiative is part of a broader national strategy to modernize the country's infrastructure and diversify the economy through technological innovation. By integrating digital literacy into the early stages of education, Azerbaijan aims to build a sustainable workforce capable of navigating the global shift toward automation and artificial intelligence. This focus on human capital aligns with the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development" framework, which identifies a modern education system and innovative society as cornerstones for the country's future competitiveness.
