An official from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued statements regarding the conclusion of the ongoing conflict and the future status of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the IRGC official, Cavani, stated in an interview with the state-affiliated "Young Journalists Club" that the current conflict can only conclude within the framework of a memorandum of understanding reached with the United States.
Cavani noted that the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for maritime traffic would only be possible after the United States fully fulfills the obligations it assumed under the agreement. The IRGC official emphasized that the order currently implemented in the Strait of Hormuz will not return to the pre-war status quo.
Addressing the future status of the waterway, Cavani indicated that the proposal to designate the Strait of Hormuz exclusively as a transit passage between Iran and Oman could only be discussed once the conflict is officially and definitively declared over.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, serving as a vital artery for global energy supplies. Approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Due to its strategic importance, any disruption or change in the governance of the Strait has significant implications for global energy markets and international maritime security.
