İran parlament sədri: Hörmüz boğazındakı hüquqlarımızdan geri çəkilməyəcəyik

Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a statement regarding the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing Iran's commitment to its sovereign rights in the region.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Ghalibaf referenced a memorandum of understanding allegedly signed between Iran and the United States during his address. He noted that, under the terms of this reported agreement, the current arrangement allowing toll-free transit through the strait is intended to be a temporary measure, limited to a 60-day period.

Ghalibaf underscored that Tehran's position remains unchanged, asserting that the country has no intention of compromising its sovereign rights over the waterway. He reiterated that protecting Iran's national interests in this strategic maritime route remains a top priority, and the government will not retreat from its established stance.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, serving as the primary route for a significant portion of global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the strait is a focal point of international geopolitical tension, often serving as a barometer for relations between Iran and Western powers, including the United States.
