Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, highlighting the strengthening ties between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Iranian President shared a statement in the Armenian language on the social media platform X. Pezeshkian characterized the visit of the Armenian delegation to Tehran, specifically Pashinyan's attendance at the farewell ceremony for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as a significant gesture of goodwill.

In his statement, President Pezeshkian noted that the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had placed special importance on the development of relations with Armenia, describing the country as a "sincere neighbor." The Iranian President expressed confidence that the relationship between the two nations would continue to develop based on mutual interests, respect, and principles of good neighborliness.

The farewell ceremony for Ali Khamenei took place in Tehran between July 3 and July 9. The event, which drew international delegations, was reportedly rescheduled from its originally planned date due to security considerations. Iran and Armenia share a border in the Caucasus region, and their diplomatic relations have historically focused on economic cooperation, energy transit, and regional security dynamics.
