Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that enemy forces are exerting pressure on the country's economy to incite public discontent. Speaking at a high-level meeting in Tehran involving relevant ministers and business associations, the President addressed the current market situation, price fluctuations, and strategies to combat inflation.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pezeshkian emphasized the need for constant monitoring of the entire supply chain—from production to consumption—to prevent artificial price increases, hoarding, and distribution bottlenecks, particularly under war conditions. He stressed that the government must accurately identify the basic needs of the population and maintain a balance between supply and demand to ensure market stability and efficient resource management. "We must implement policies that meet the real needs of society while protecting both producer profits and consumer satisfaction," the Iranian President added.
The remarks come as Iran continues to navigate significant economic challenges exacerbated by international sanctions and regional tensions. Since taking office, Pezeshkian has faced the dual task of managing domestic economic grievances while addressing the impact of foreign policy pressures on the national currency and inflation rates. The Iranian leadership frequently attributes domestic economic instability to external interference, framing economic resilience as a critical component of national security and social stability.
