Azərbaycan və Slovakiya parlamentləri memorandum imzaladı

Azerbaijan and Slovakia have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between their respective parliaments, marking a significant step in deepening legislative ties between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was made by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), during a joint press conference with Richard Raši, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. Gafarova noted that the delegations held extensive discussions regarding the current state and future prospects of inter-parliamentary relations. "Richard Raši and I share the same position on the further development of these relations. The memorandum of understanding signed today is a direct result of this shared vision," Gafarova stated.

The Speaker also emphasized that work is ongoing to expand the legal framework between Azerbaijan and Slovakia. She highlighted that humanitarian cooperation remains a priority for strengthening the bonds between the peoples of both countries, alongside the growing political and economic dialogue.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia have seen a significant upward trajectory recently, particularly following the signing of a joint declaration on strategic partnership in May 2024. Beyond legislative cooperation, the two countries are actively engaged in energy security, with Slovakia being a key partner in the Solidarity Ring (STRING) initiative, which aims to transport Azerbaijani natural gas to Central and Eastern Europe. This parliamentary agreement is expected to provide the necessary legislative support for these expanding bilateral initiatives.
