Roma Papası XIV Leo Afrika turunu yekunlaşdırıb

Pope Leo XIV concluded his multi-nation tour of Africa on Sunday, delivering a final address at the Bata stadium in Equatorial Guinea. The Pontiff called on the nation's youth and families to embrace reconciliation and lead lives of dignity.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the US-born Pontiff urged the faithful to respect family values and strengthen their faith, emphasizing that charitable acts rooted in these principles have the power to transform societies. During his visit to the city of Bata, the Pope also visited a local prison. While Amnesty International has previously reported that detainees in the facility are often held for years without legal counsel, government officials maintain that treatment of prisoners aligns with United Nations standards.

The visit marks the first time a Pope has traveled to Equatorial Guinea since 1982. During his stay, Pope Leo XIV also offered prayers at the site of a 2021 military base explosion that resulted in more than 100 fatalities. The broader African tour included significant stops in several nations:

  • Angola: The Pope addressed a gathering of 130,000 people, calling for the healing of divisions caused by years of civil war.
  • Cameroon: He criticized leaders who spend vast resources on warfare, stating that the world is being damaged by a handful of tyrants.
  • Algeria: Leo XIV made history as the first Pontiff to visit the country, meeting with Muslim leaders to strengthen interfaith cooperation.

According to Vatican statistics, Africa is the continent with the fastest-growing Catholic population in the world. Church officials expressed hope that this apostolic journey would increase global attention toward the continent's social and humanitarian development.
