The newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman, has arrived in Baku to assume his diplomatic duties.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the diplomat shared the update on his official X account, expressing his honor to represent the UK. "Although I have been to Azerbaijan before, arriving here as the newly appointed British Ambassador is a different feeling. I have already experienced the culture and hospitality of this country. For over 30 years, our countries have been united by strong bonds of friendship and mutual trust. I am proud and honored to take up this post at a time when we are elevating our bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership," the ambassador stated.
Duncan Norman succeeds Fergus Auld, whose diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan concluded on May 22. Relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom have historically been strong, particularly in the energy sector, with major British companies playing a key role in regional energy and infrastructure projects, while bilateral cooperation continues to expand into green energy and trade.
