High-ranking European Union (EU) diplomats are scheduled to meet with the head of the Peace Council in Brussels on February 23.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets, that the discussions will focus on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the implementation of new sanctions against Russia.

Nikolay Mladenov, a former Bulgarian politician and UN diplomat selected by US President Donald Trump to lead the Peace Council, will hold talks with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and the foreign ministers of the 27 member states. The meeting aims to coordinate international efforts regarding the security situation in Eastern Europe and the strategic direction of the Peace Council's initiatives.

The Peace Council held its inaugural meeting on February 19, an event that saw the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. The Council serves as a high-level platform for diplomatic engagement and conflict resolution, reflecting a shift in international mediation strategies. The inclusion of Azerbaijan at the highest level underscores the country's growing role as a key regional actor and its commitment to global peace and security frameworks.
