Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held a telephone conversation.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Armenian Prime Minister's administration confirmed the discussion, noting that both leaders addressed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing intensification of Armenia-Turkey ties.
During the call, Prime Minister Pashinyan congratulated President Erdogan on the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday, while President Erdogan extended his congratulations to the Armenian Prime Minister on his 51st birthday.
The conversation also covered key logistical and economic topics, including the recent visit of Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz to Armenia for the European Political Community summit. The leaders discussed the establishment of direct trade procedures between Armenia and Turkey, as well as the potential utilization of the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway for Armenian imports and exports. Both parties emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue to foster regional cooperation and economic development.
The normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia remains a significant factor in the broader geopolitical landscape of the South Caucasus. Following the 44-day Patriotic War, which saw Azerbaijan restore its territorial integrity, regional dynamics have shifted, with Ankara and Yerevan seeking to establish diplomatic ties and open borders, a process closely monitored by regional stakeholders, including Azerbaijan.
