The death toll from flooding in Nepal’s Rasuwa region, near the Chinese border, and surrounding areas has risen to 1,367.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media outlets.

Reports said 1,367 people had died in the floods in Nepal.

Search and rescue operations are continuing for 5,132 people who remain missing.

According to the reports, 21,185 security personnel have been deployed in the disaster-hit areas to conduct search and rescue operations, distribute humanitarian aid, recover bodies and carry out other urgent measures.

Floods and landslides in Nepal can become particularly destructive during the monsoon season, when heavy rainfall causes rivers to overflow and disrupts transport links in remote mountainous areas. Rescue efforts are often complicated by damaged roads and difficult terrain.
