NATO has announced its commitment to strengthening the alliance's nuclear potential by modernizing its nuclear forces.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this decision was formalized in a statement released following a meeting of the Nuclear Planning Group at the level of NATO defense ministers.

The document, published on NATO's official website, confirms that defense ministers have agreed to continue the modernization process to enhance the alliance's nuclear deterrence capabilities.

“At the Nuclear Planning Group meeting, defense ministers agreed to continue strengthening NATO's nuclear resistance by modernizing its nuclear potential,” the statement emphasized.

The document further notes that allies have reaffirmed their commitment to investing in the necessary resources, capabilities, and military forces required to carry out NATO's nuclear mission. These measures are intended to facilitate the sharing of responsibilities, risks, and burdens among alliance members within the framework of collective defense. The statement also underscored the importance of NATO demonstrating unity and resolve in this domain.

The Nuclear Planning Group serves as the senior body on nuclear matters in the alliance, providing a forum for consultation on policy, planning, and operational issues. By modernizing these assets, NATO aims to ensure its deterrence remains credible and effective in an evolving global security environment, reflecting the alliance's ongoing adaptation to contemporary geopolitical challenges.
