Azerbaijan's population grows by over 11,000

Since the beginning of the year, the population of Azerbaijan has increased by 11,099 people, or 0.1%, reaching 10,273,450 as of July 1, 2026.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this data was released by the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The report highlights that 54.3% of the country's population resides in urban areas, while 45.7% live in rural regions. The gender distribution remains stable, with men accounting for 49.8% and women for 50.2% of the total population.

As of early July, the demographic distribution across economic regions is as follows: Baku accounts for 22.9% of the population, followed by the Lankaran-Astara region at 9.3%, Absheron-Khizi at 8.6%, Garabagh at 7.3%, Central Aran at 7.1%, Gazakh-Tovuz at 6.6%, Sheki-Zagatala at 6.1%, Ganja-Dashkasan at 5.8%, Guba-Khachmaz at 5.4%, Mil-Mugan at 5.2%, Shirvan-Salyan at 4.9%, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at 4.6%, Mountainous Shirvan at 3.2%, and East Zangezur at 3%.

The State Statistical Committee regularly tracks these demographic shifts to assist in national planning, infrastructure development, and social policy implementation across Azerbaijan's various economic zones.
