Russia has announced that President Vladimir Putin has received a detailed report regarding recent strikes conducted against targets in Kyiv.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, briefed President Vladimir Putin on the outcomes of the mass strikes carried out in Kyiv and its surrounding areas.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the attacks primarily targeted defense industry enterprises and fuel-energy facilities located in and around the Ukrainian capital. Additionally, the ministry noted that military airfield infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions were also targeted during the operation.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian President, noted that discussions between Putin and Gerasimov regarding the situation in Ukraine occur almost daily, though the majority of these meetings remain undisclosed to the public.
Russia initiated military operations in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, with Moscow justifying the actions as necessary for the "demilitarization" and "denazification" of the country. In response to the ongoing conflict, Western nations have implemented extensive economic and political sanctions against Russia, significantly altering the geopolitical landscape of Eastern Europe.
