Moldova-Rumıniya birləşmə layihəsi Senata göndərilir

A draft law proposing the unification of Moldova and Romania has been approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Romanian Parliament.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media reports, the initiative was submitted to parliament in February by Member of the European Parliament Diana Sosoaca.

The draft law was reportedly approved through a "tacit adoption" procedure. Under this mechanism, legislative proposals that are neither discussed nor rejected during a plenary session are automatically considered adopted after a period of 45 days.

However, the decision by the Chamber of Deputies is not final. The document will now proceed to the next stage, where it will be sent to the Senate, the upper house of the Romanian Parliament, for further deliberation.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, while Moldova has maintained its independence, certain political circles in Romania have continued to advocate for the unification of the two territories, viewing them as historically linked. It is frequently alleged that political factions in Bucharest supporting unification with Chisinau receive varying levels of backing from influential groups within the country.
