The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has sent an official congratulatory letter to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva on the occasion of June 15 – National Salvation Day.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the proposal to send the message was introduced by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, during an extraordinary session of the parliament.
The Speaker emphasized that when the state faced the threat of collapse and fragmentation, the National Leader saved Azerbaijan. "Heydar Aliyev's return to state leadership was a call from the people. With this, Azerbaijan embarked on a path of sustainable development, and our country transformed into an international center," Gafarova stated.
The Speaker further noted that the statehood policy established by Heydar Aliyev is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. "Ending the 30-year occupation of our lands, the restoration of our sovereignty, and our growing international political influence are clear indicators of this," she added.
National Salvation Day, celebrated annually on June 15, marks the pivotal moment in 1993 when Heydar Aliyev returned to power at the request of the Azerbaijani people. This event is widely regarded as the turning point that stabilized the country, ended internal turmoil, and laid the foundation for the modern, independent Republic of Azerbaijan.
