The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has issued an appeal to the public regarding essential safety regulations at beaches across Azerbaijan. As the summer season brings an influx of visitors to coastal areas, the ministry is emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents.
In a statement provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the ministry noted that some citizens continue to disregard established safety rules at beaches, prompting this renewed call for vigilance and compliance.
The ministry explicitly prohibits swimming in areas not designated as beaches, including canals and rivers. Furthermore, it is forbidden to swim beyond marked boundaries, enter the water during windy weather, camp overnight on beaches, or remain on the beach while intoxicated. The use of unauthorized boats or vessels in swimming areas and engaging in reckless behavior in the water are also strictly prohibited.
The MES further advised that children must never be left unattended at the beach. Visitors are required to strictly follow the instructions of warning signs, placards, and the directives of lifeguards. The ministry also warned that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and entering the water after dark pose significant health and safety risks.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly conducts awareness campaigns during the summer months to minimize drowning incidents and ensure public safety. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to manage recreational water safety in Azerbaijan, where coastal tourism is a vital component of the summer season.
