Manchester City is planning to sign Feyenoord's 19-year-old Dutch right-back Givairo Read during the upcoming summer transfer window to bolster its defensive line.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the English Premier League champions face stiff competition from German giants Bayern Munich for the young talent's signature, according to Sky Sports.

Read made his senior debut for the Eredivisie side in February 2024. Since then, he has made 50 appearances, contributing four goals and 11 assists. Such high-level performance has drawn the attention of several major European clubs looking to secure long-term defensive prospects.

At Manchester City, Pep Guardiola currently views Rico Lewis as the primary nominal right-back, though he has yet to fully cement his place in the starting lineup, with Matheus Nunes often filling the position. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is seeking to fill a void on the right flank following Sacha Boey's loan move to Galatasaray, with Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic currently serving as temporary solutions.

Feyenoord, one of the most successful clubs in the Netherlands, is well-known for its robust youth development system. The Rotterdam-based club has historically produced players who successfully transition to the world's most competitive leagues, making Read's potential move a significant step in his professional career. The Eredivisie continues to serve as a primary scouting ground for top European teams seeking technically proficient and versatile young defenders.
