Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Western nations of actively working to undermine stability within Russia and attempting to turn the public against the government.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from the TASS news agency, Lavrov stated that prior to the commencement of the special military operation, Russian society was living in a stable and calm environment with a satisfactory standard of living. The minister alleged that Western countries were dissatisfied with this stability and sought to disrupt it.
Lavrov noted that Western states have taken various steps to incite the public against the authorities and have been preparing provocations. "They wanted to incite society against the government and were preparing various provocations for this purpose," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.
The current geopolitical climate remains tense, with Russia and Western nations engaged in a prolonged diplomatic and economic standoff. These accusations from Moscow reflect the ongoing deterioration of relations between Russia and the West, which have reached their lowest point in decades following the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine. Such rhetoric is frequently employed by Russian officials to frame domestic challenges as externally driven efforts to weaken the state.
