Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, has held a high-level meeting with Chinese officials to discuss the development of strategic relations between Azerbaijan and China. The meeting included Wu Hongbo, former Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs, and the Ambassador of China to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Hikmet Hajiyev shared details regarding the official meeting on his X social media account.
"We exchanged views on the Azerbaijan–China comprehensive strategic partnership and discussed key regional issues," the official stated. The representative of the Presidential Administration characterized the contact as a valuable dialogue reflecting the depth of bilateral relations between the two nations.
The meeting underscores the growing diplomatic and economic synergy between Baku and Beijing. Following the signing of the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership" in July 2024, both countries have intensified cooperation within the framework of the Middle Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative. Azerbaijan remains a key partner for China in the South Caucasus, facilitating transit and trade connectivity between Asia and Europe.
