Turkey has officially announced its readiness to support all initiatives aimed at resuming peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The country remains committed to facilitating a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the statement following his recent visit to Kyiv, sharing his remarks on the social media platform X.
Fidan emphasized that Ankara continues to uphold its unwavering support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He noted that Turkey is prepared to support any measures that would bring the conflicting parties back to the negotiating table and contribute to the establishment of a sustainable and lasting peace in the region.
During his visit, the Minister described his meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha as productive, highlighting the strengthening strategic partnership between the two nations. Fidan further stressed that providing naval security guarantees to Ukraine is of critical importance to ensure safety in the Black Sea and to prevent the conflict from escalating in that direction.
Turkey has historically played a pivotal role as a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, most notably hosting the Istanbul talks in 2022 and facilitating the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which allowed for the safe export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports, demonstrating Ankara's ongoing diplomatic influence in regional security matters.
