Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has held a meeting with the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Türkiye, Yilmaz Tunc, who is currently on a working visit to Azerbaijan.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Prosecutor General's Office.
During the discussions, it was noted that the high-level relations established between the two states contribute significantly to the expansion of effective cooperation in the legal sphere. This includes strengthening mutual activities between prosecution, justice, and other law enforcement agencies, improving mechanisms for legal assistance, enhancing joint efforts in combating transnational crime, and fostering international legal cooperation.
The Prosecutor General recalled with satisfaction the working visit of the delegation led by Minister Yilmaz Tunc to Baku in 2025, as well as the meetings held during the visit of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office delegation to Istanbul earlier this year. He emphasized that these contacts have provided a significant impetus to the further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Furthermore, the Prosecutor General expressed confidence that the relations based on mutual trust between the prosecution and justice authorities are developing at a high level and will continue to be successfully pursued.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Yilmaz Tunc emphasized that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across all areas, particularly in the prosecution, judicial, and justice sectors, is at an exemplary level. He noted that the joint activities being implemented make a significant contribution to the development of both countries' legal systems and the further consolidation of legal cooperation.
The meeting included a detailed exchange of views on current directions of legal cooperation and future development prospects. Both sides expressed confidence that the strategic alliance between the two brotherly nations will continue to develop successfully based on mutual trust and support.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Cahit Bagci.
Background: Azerbaijan and Türkiye maintain a unique strategic partnership, often described by the phrase "one nation, two states." This relationship is underpinned by the Shusha Declaration, which elevated bilateral ties to the level of an alliance. Cooperation in the legal, judicial, and security sectors remains a cornerstone of this partnership, ensuring coordinated efforts in regional stability and the rule of law.
