A significant coaching change has occurred in Brazilian football as Jorge Sampaoli departs from his position.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media reports, confirms that Jorge Sampaoli is no longer the head coach of Atletico Mineiro.
The Argentine specialist's second tenure with the Brazilian club lasted only five months. According to a mutual agreement reached between the parties, the contract, which was originally intended to run until 2027, has been terminated prematurely.
The primary reason for the 65-year-old coach's departure was the team's unsatisfactory sporting performance. Under Sampaoli's leadership, the team suffered a defeat in the final of the Copa Sudamericana. Additionally, the club experienced a series of consecutive poor results in the domestic league.
Jorge Sampaoli is a well-known figure in international football, having previously managed the national teams of Argentina and Chile, leading the latter to a historic Copa America title in 2015. His coaching career includes stints at major European clubs such as Sevilla and Marseille. Atletico Mineiro, based in Belo Horizonte, is one of Brazil's most successful clubs, and the decision to change leadership reflects the high expectations within the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A.
