The Israeli Air Force has killed Mehdi Vafaei, the head of the engineering unit of Iran's Quds Force corps in Lebanon, during a targeted aerial operation. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the strike was carried out based on precise intelligence data on March 31 in the Mahlat district.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) press service reported that Vafaei was a high-value target due to his extensive role in regional destabilization. During his 20-year career, Mehdi Vafaei spearheaded strategic underground projects across Lebanon and Syria. He specifically managed the creation of subterranean infrastructure for the Iranian-backed Hezbollah organization and the Assad regime. Official reports indicate that the engineer directly supervised dozens of projects designed to store advanced weaponry in secure underground facilities within Lebanon.

The elimination of such a high-ranking technical expert marks a significant blow to the logistical capabilities of the Quds Force, which serves as the overseas arm of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These engineering networks are critical for the transport and concealment of long-range missiles and drones provided by Tehran to its proxies. The operation comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing efforts to dismantle the sophisticated tunnel systems and bunkers that facilitate cross-border military provocations against Israel.
